Troy grew up in Iva, South Carolina on their family farm of five generations – surrounded by natural beauty, it remains his favorite place to go to get away from it all. After attending Crescent High School, he received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Furman University and MSW from USC. He then served with Bank of America in Corporate Personnel in Charlotte, NC and then in Columbia, SC. After meeting his wife, Dell, a graduate of Clemson University and Erskine Theological Seminary, they served for over 20 years in ministry together with the congregations of Mt Horeb Methodist and Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Churches in Lexington, SC.
Troy now serves as the VP of Member Services for Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative leading the areas of Media & Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Energy Services, Corporate Culture, Customer Service Call Centers and Billing. He currently serves alongside his neighbors on multiple boards in the community sharing a passion for leading to make things better both now and for the future.
His service to the community has been through several boards including Central Carolina Community Foundation, Midlands Business Leadership Group (MBLG); Mission Lexington (formerly known as LICS) Board, Past Chair; Lexington Chamber of Commerce Board, Past Chair; 2017 Recipient of the Lexington Chamber Mike Till Community Service Award; Lexington District One Educational Foundation Board member, Dancing With The Stars, 2017; South Carolina Association of School Administrators(SCASA), Center for Executive Leadership, Business Facilitator; Lexington-Richland School District Five Business Advisory Council; Past mentor, Rocky Creek Elementary; Saluda Economic Development Board; Leadership South Carolina, Leadership Lexington, La Vie Pregnancy Center, Founding board member; Neema Children’s Charities, Past President; Furman Young Alumni Board, Past President: Furman Homecoming Reunion, Chair, 2018.
They have been blessed by loving extended family members as they grew up, married and raised their own family – and are incredibly proud of their three grown children, son-in-law and granddaughter. Collecting sunrises and sunsets has always been Troy’s personal favorite serving as a reminder to slow down to admire and experience the beauty of God’s creation around us. Before his time in ministry, he completed a life goal of solo backpack travel around the world.
